Park Factors

It will be hot and humid across most of Sunday's slate with all but 3 games expecting temps in the 80s and 90s this afternoon. Both warmer temperatures and higher humidity levels help the ball carry farther, which makes for above-average hitting conditions at most of today's venues.

The parks most vulnerable to extra distance are those with smaller outfields, which includes Great American Ball Park, Rate Field, and the right side at Yankee Stadium. Center field in Milwaukee can be included here as well, although the deeper corners tend to balance things out a bit.

It's only expected to be 70° in Boston this afternoon, but it will be humid with 10 mph wind blowing out. The quirky dimensions at Fenway help produce more in-play hits than most parks, which is a constant even when the conditions aren't helping a ton.

More top-tier hitting conditions are expected in Kansas City this afternoon where it will be in the high 90s with double-digit wind blowing out to center. The huge outfield at Kauffman Stadium is still only rated neutral for home runs, but the park is set up well for hits inside the yard on Sunday.

Typical summer conditions are expected in San Francisco this evening with high 50s and the usual out-blowing wind forecast. As mentioned here throughout the season, this pattern is present for every Giants home game and doesn't translate to the field as expected. The park was built to neutralize wind and remains a bottom-five home run venue each season despite the wind forecast appearing favorable each game. Oracle takes its usual place at the pitcher-friendly end of the list for Sunday Night Baseball this evening.

The higher humidity on Sunday also comes with its share of storms, and those parks with possible rain delay are highlighted in pink below.
