Wednesday's slate features cooler temperatures than the recent trend with about half of outdoor games dipping back into the 70s. It's still going to be 90° and higher at a number of venues including Yankee Stadium and Camden Yards where the heat is also paired with some modest out-blowing wind.

Sutter Health Park once again tops the slate with it's usual, and impactful, wind blowing out to left-center. But it will only be 80° to start in Sacramento and in the low 70s by the later innings.

Some of the best hitting weather is in Detroit where it will be in the 80s this afternoon with consistent wind blowing out to right. Comerica Park usually leans in favor of pitchers, but it's given a balanced hitter-friendly rating on Wednesday due to the conditions.

Great American Ball Park is among the venues with temps close to 90° this evening. The usually home-run-friendly venue is being downgraded a bit by the model this season as it isn't producing as many home runs as expected. To be clear, stadium-specific home run totals are associated with lots of random noise each season, often due to the effect of the home team. The model accounts for the fact that Reds hitters and pitchers may be depressing home runs by looking at each individual fly ball to determine an "expected" outcome. So far, "expected" home runs are down significantly in Cincinnati for the fly balls that are getting hit - even after accounting for weather and this year's higher-drag version of the baseball. It's still firmly rated as positive for home runs on Wednesday.

Oracle Park takes its usual spot at the pitcher-friendly end of the slate. As mentioned here this season, the out-blowing wind exists for every Giants home game and doesn't translate to the field as expected. It remains a bottom-five home run park every year despite how favorable the wind forecast appears each game.

Roof status is uncertain in Milwaukee for Cubs / Brewers this afternoon with a modest chance of rain in the forecast. It's assumed closed below, and the cooler 60° temps will favor pitchers today if they decide to open it up.
