Park Factors

Wednesday's slate is set up well for offense with temps above 80° at most parks. Warmer temperatures help the ball carry farther, as does low air pressure which is featured at a number of venues today (green "P"s in the chart below).

Some of the best hitting conditions are in Baltimore where it will be in the high 80s with low pressure and light wind blowing out to left-center. Oriole Park is a great venue for home runs, especially on days like today - to the extent that the deep left field corner is avoided.

The hottest temps Wednesday happen to be at the smallest (GABP) and largest (Kauffman) outfields on the slate where it will be above 90°. The additional offense is expected to come via the home run in Cincinnati while the open spaces in Kansas City are better for in-play hits. GABP's rating is affected by a model downgrade this season.

Sutter Health Park has been of the top venues for home runs this season due largely to its consistent and impactful out-blowing wind. Although the wind will be there this evening, it's going to be a bit cooler than it has been lately with temps dipping into the low 70s for the later innings.

The weather outlier on the slate is Oracle Park where it will be in the 50s this afternoon. Chilly temps are typical for the Bay Area venue where the wind forecast always shows "blowing out" despite it not translating that way to the playing surface.
